Vintage Oil Dispenser - My Recycle Find of the Day

Updated: Aug 15

Going through my late father’s shop always brings a mix of emotions. On one hand, it’s a chance to reconnect with memories of the countless hours we spent together tinkering and fixing things. On the other hand, it’s a stark reminder that he’s no longer here.

During a recent clean-up, I came across an old oil dispenser, covered in dust and cobwebs.

As a child, I watched both my dad and grandfather use this tool—a reminder of their love for trucks, tractors, and all things mechanical. Wiping it down, I inspected it closely. Despite its age, the oil dispenser is still fully functional, a testament to the craftsmanship of the past. I can easily see it becoming a prized piece in someone’s vintage collection one day.

Beyond its sentimental value, vintage oil dispensers like this one are becoming rare and highly sought after by collectors. Though I’ve had offers to buy it, for now, the dispenser isn’t for sale. It’s a family heirloom, something I’ll continue to cherish—unless life takes an unexpected turn, and I find myself needing the money, or it ends up buried under my pile of bicycle gear. Someone out there could truly appreciate this piece of history.

In the meantime, I’m reminded to step outside, enjoy the day, and take in the simple pleasures of life.
