Vintage Oil Dispenser - My Recycle Find of the Day

Going through my departed father's shop is always a bittersweet experience. On the one hand, it is a chance to remember him and all the time we spent together in his shop. On the other hand, it is also a reminder that he is gone.

As my cleaning of his shop continues, I recently stumbled upon an old oil dispenser. Covered in dust and cobwebs, I know it was once a beautiful piece of equipment, because as a child I watched both my dad and grandfather use it.

Immediately drawn to the oil dispenser, it is a reminder of my father's love for trucks and tractors and his passion for mechanics. I wiped down the oil dispenser I found buried in a heap of old mechanic's tools and inspected the darn thing. It is still fully functional and will make a nice addition to someone’s vintage shop some day.

In addition to its sentimental value, the oil dispenser is also a valuable antique. Vintage oil dispensers are becoming increasingly rare and sought-after by collectors. I have had several people offer to buy it from me, but I have refused.

The oil dispenser, for now, is not for sale. It is a family heirloom that I will continue to enjoy. That is unless I end up broke lying in a gutter somewhere and need the money, or I bury it in a closet under a pile of my bicycle gear. Someone should and could get enjoyment out of the vintage tool.

Get outside folks and enjoy the day.
