The Rogue River’s Secrets Unveiled
The Rogue River Incident duology is inspired by my love of the outdoors, my fascination with the unknown, and my deep connection to the Rogue River. The protagonist, Mitch Wilde, reminds me of Fox Mulder from The X-Files. Growing up near the Rogue River and spending countless hours hiking, tubing, cliff diving, and fishing made the wild and scenic waterway the perfect setting for my first novel. So, one day, I sat down with an idea for a character, and several months and 85,000 words later, I finished book one. I love cliffhangers, and as novelist Garth Stein once told me at a writer's convention, "Write something you'd want to read." That’s how The Rogue River Incident was born.
In 1949, five witnesses reported seeing an unidentified flying object hovering over the Rogue River near Beach, Oregon. the Air Force conducted an investigation, The Rogue River Incident: Case X remains unresolved.
Fast forward to today in the small town of Rogue River, Oregon, where outdoor photographer Mitch Wilde finds himself in a strange and unsettling situation when his best friend is struck by an arrow yet miraculously remains unscathed. As bizarre events escalate, an eccentric neighbor approaches Mitch with alarming evidence that hints at something more sinister lurking in their quiet community.
When Mitch captures footage of a mysterious creature emerging from a nearby lake, the narrative takes an exhilarating, X-Files-like twist. Mitch and his neighbor become embroiled in a web of conspiracy, chaos, and unexplained phenomena as their town becomes the focal point of an otherworldly threat.
Amidst the turmoil, one can't help but wonder, ‘Mulder and Scully, where are you when we need you?’ As Mitch races to safeguard his loved ones, he finds himself caught up in The Rogue River Incident, Case XI. The truth is out there; and it’s happening once more.
"Great character development, likable characters to boot, and a mystery that just yearns to be solved." (Rebecca Skane, Portsmouth Review).
"An original and impressively well-written novel deftly crafted and highly entertaining by an author who will leave his readers looking eagerly toward his next effort." (James Cox, Midwest Review)
