If You Think You Know the Truth…Think Again
When Matt Walker answers a late-night call from his estranged ex-wife, he doesn’t expect to find his old home swarming with police, or to be pulled into a violent crime he knows nothing about. Inside, his ex-wife, battered and sobbing, runs straight into his arms, stunning him and the detectives. Coincidence? Or something far more dangerous?
Hoping to shake the unsettling encounter, Matt returns home to his new life, his new wife, and the peaceful escape of their lakeside retreat. But the illusion shatters the next morning when a body washes up on shore, and once again, Matt is at the center of a crime he can’t explain.
Detective Mara Graley has spent years untangling lies, but something about this case doesn’t add up. Her gut tells her she’s missing something; but she believes Walker. Her rookie partner, brash and convinced of Walker's guilt, wants to take him down. As the investigation deepens, secrets unravel, past and present collide, and nothing is what it seems.
If you like Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, prepare for a gripping psychological thriller with unexpected twists and a disturbing, clever ending that will leave you questioning everything.

How Hidden Beneath the Pines Came to Life
Hidden Beneath the Pines grew out of three things: a lifelong love of the Southern Oregon wilderness, a fascination with the real crime stories that fuel shows like Dateline, and a conversation with a childhood friend that I have never forgotten.
Growing up, I had no idea she was suffering. She seemed fine. Normal. But behind closed doors, her family hid a world of pain that nobody around her, not friends, not teachers, not neighbors, ever saw coming.
Years later she shared her story with me, and it changed the way I think about secrets, about families, and about the damage that can live hidden inside an ordinary home.
Her courage in telling that story is the heartbeat of this book.
Set deep in the forests of Southern Oregon, Hidden Beneath the Pines is a suspense novel about buried family secrets, survival, and the long road to justice. If you love Pacific Northwest mystery novels, character-driven psychological suspense, or stories rooted in the kind of truth that is stranger and darker than fiction, this one was written for you.
The wilderness is beautiful out here. But it hides things.
