There’s something surreal about holding a piece of your imagination in your hands. Writing novels has always been about bringing characters and worlds to life, but with the upcoming release of Memories of an Ash Covered Sky, I decided to take a creative detour—just for fun. Somewhere between editing chapters, approving cover designs, and prepping for the launch, I started wondering… what if there was an action figure of a novelist? So, I made one. The official (just-for-fun) Mike Walters action figure.

Dressed in hiking gear, camera in hand, notebook at the ready, and standing against the kind of wild Oregon backdrop that inspires my stories, this playful project is a nod to the journey I’ve been on as a writer. It’s not for sale, and no, I won’t be stocking toy shelves anytime soon—but it was a fun way to celebrate the work and the passion that goes into every novel.

And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to imagine themselves as an action figure? BTW, what you can't see in my pack slung over my shoulder is something only a Pacific Northwest Native could appreciate.

A New Card for a New Chapter

With Memories of an Ash Covered Sky releasing soon, I also refreshed my business card to reflect the tone and emotion of this new story. It’s simple, rugged, and connected to the landscapes and themes I love writing about—especially the complex, emotional terrain Sky and Chief navigate in this book.

This isn’t just a story about wildfire—it’s about the ashes we carry, the memories we can’t escape, and the hope we find in the aftermath.

Why This Project Matters

The action figure might just be a fun side project, but it reminded me of something important: stories don’t just live on the page. They live in us—in the ways we share them, imagine them, and bring them into the real world. Memories of an Ash Covered Sky is deeply personal, a reflection on loss, memory, and returning home after everything has changed. This little creative break was a way to stay grounded in the heart of that message while having a bit of fun along the way.

The Novel is Real—And Almost Here

While the action figure isn’t hitting shelves, Memories of an Ash Covered Sky is—and I am looking forward to sharing it with you. The release date is May 9, 2025, or pre-order now to be among the first to dive into Sky and Chief’s journey.

Thanks for being part of this adventure—and for letting me share not just the serious moments, but the fun ones too.
